Alex Clifton

Alex is founding Artistic Director of Storyhouse. He also co-founded the award-winning Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre in 2010 in Chester. He has been Senior Acting Teacher at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Resident Director of English National Opera and Assistant Director at the Royal National Theatre. He previously founded and led two award-winning new-writing companies, Simunye (based in Soweto, South Africa) and Pursued by a Bear (resident at The Farnham Maltings arts centre). Alex has a first-class degree in English Literature from the University of Oxford, and was commissioned to write The Actor’s Workbook for Bloomsbury, published in 2017.
