Andrew Margerison

Andrew began his career as a competitive Ballroom and Latin American dancer, and was a member of the Dancers Preston Latin American formation team, trained by Nick and Carol Atack, and Corky and Shirley Ballas. The team held the Closed British Championship title, and were Grand Final Winners on BBC TV’s Come Dancing, representing Liverpool. Andrew went on to complete complete three years’ professional training at Merseyside Dance and Drama Centre.

 

Andrew’s Musical Theatre Credits include Grease (UK Tour) as ensemble and understudy Doody and Eugene, The Rocky Horror Show (UK Tour) as Phantom and understudy Frank’n’Furter, Brad, Riff Raff, Rocky, Eddie/Dr.Scott and The Narrator, Starlight Express (Germany) as Swing, The Rocky Horror BIG 30 Show (UK Tour and Queens Theatre London) as Swing, Dance Captain and Resident Director, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (UK and International Tour) as Swing, understudy Lefou, Cogsworth and Maurice and Resident Director. Andrew has worked on three Summer Seasons at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre; he choreographed The Sound of Music as well as being assistant choreographer on Chess and Hairspray.

 

Andrew has spent the last eight Christmas seasons at The Floral Pavilion Theatre in New Brighton. Most recently he directed Peter Pan, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. He was also choreographer, and assistant director for Snow White, as well as choreographing Cinderella, Aladdin, Peter Pan, and Jack and the Beanstalk. Other Pantomime credits include choreographer for Aladdin (Palace Theatre Mansfield), Snow White (Central Theatre Chatham) and Jack and the Beanstalk (Beck Theatre, Hayes), and assistant choreographer for Cinderella (Central Theatre, Chatham) and Snow White (Swan Theatre, High Wycombe). Andrew has also appeared in Peter Pan (Palace Theatre, Manchester) as Lost Boy and understudy John darling, Babes in the Wood (Theatre Royal, Norwich) as Ensemble and Cinderella (Dubai International Conference Centre) as Dandini.

 

Andrew’s television dancing credits include Granada’s The Grand, and Channel Four’s And The Beat Goes On. He was principal singer/dancer in New York City Rhythm and Over the Rainbow on board the MS Sundream and was a featured dancer in The Caribbean Dream Show for Showline Productions in Paris. Andrew originated the role of Mike in the workshop of Muscles the Musical at the Landor Theatre London, was Assistant Choreographer on Our House the Madness Musical at the White Rock Theatre Hastings, and choreographed three seasons of The Good Old Days at Leeds City Varieties.

 

Andrew is passionate about vocational dance and musical theatre training and is a regular guest practitioner, at performing arts colleges across the North West. He specialises in jazz technique, musical theatre repertoire, audition technique and partner work. Recent work as a guest choreographer and director includes Flashback to the 80’s, From West Side to Verona and Lights, Camera, Action for The Northern Ballet School, Chicago, Nine, RENT, Urinetown and Sweet Charity for Blackpool and the Fylde College, Bad Girls and Divorce Me Darling for Liverpool Theatre School, as well as a variety of showcases, summer shows and gala performances.
